Our Leaf Inquiry!

Many friends brought in leaves and we observed them during a circle time!

We noticed:

1.  The leaves are different colours.

2.  The leaves are all different sizes.  

3.  The leaves are all different shapes.

One of our friends is tracing a leaf. "It's a maple leaf," she says.  "It has red on it!"

It turned into a leaf book!

One of the students created her own leaf book at home and brought it to school to share!

We did a science experiment. Alex was the only one who predicted the right answer. The leaves still crumpled and dried out. 

We were making leaf books and Megan wanted to learn about the kinds of leaves so she went to the library and found books on leaves.  Kai found his leaf in a book!

Nathan created a leaf picture and he discovered big, medium and small leaves!

We did find out the answer to our questions from the other day.  We talked about a big word "chlorophyll" and how the leaves stop making food.  This makes the leaves turn colour!  Then the leaves will fall off the trees!
