Inflating a Ballon !

Our survey question this morning asked if Mrs. Hawkins can blow up a balloon without using her mouth. Some friends who said yes knew that she could use a pump. We discovered another way to blow up a balloon without using a pump or her mouth. We put a balloon on top of an empty pop bottle. We had two bowls of water. One was hot and one was cold. We discovered that when we put the bottle in hot air the ballon inflated. When we put the balloon in cold water the balloon deflated. It was actually getting sucked into the bottle. Science is so cool!!

Nathan wanted to take the experiment a little further and see what would happen if we mixed the hot and cold water together to make warm water. Nothing happened! The balloon did not inflate or deflate.
