Tattling and Telling

Today at circle time, Mrs. Hawkins lead the children in a discussion about the difference between "tattling" and "telling".  The children listened to a story about a little girl named "Tattletale Tilly".  She tattled so much that she did not have friends and even her brother and sister did not want to play with her.  Then Tillie changed her behaviour and was able to be a friend to others.  Then we made a chart of what behaviours were "tattling" and which were "telling".  The children learned:  Tattling is to get someone IN trouble.  Telling is to get someone OUT of trouble.  We discussed safety and when you should tell.  We listened to a song from You Tube called "The Tattling Song".  Here is the link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f44zb2aoB1s

Our Community is Filled In!

The children worked very hard and they created houses, businesses and stop lights to fill up our community. The mural is in the hallway outside our classroom. Stop by to take a look!

Numbers, Numbers Everywhere!!!

The children created their very own number book today. We worked in pairs to find objects to represent their number they were given. We are so proud of this accomplishment! Our very first digital book!  Look below to see the result!!  Click the book below and don't forget to turn your volume up! 

At home connection:  Practise finding objects at home to represent number.  Discuss more, less and equal.  Have your child try to print all of the numbers too!!  You can create your own number book and bring it to school to share with us!!

DPA (daily physical activity)

During period 3 students participate in DPA with Mr. Hoy & Mrs. Hawkins. They play games and have the opportunity to play on equipment.

Eagles over APS!

During second break today, two bald eagles were soaring above the playground.

Our Community!!

We are starting a year long study about our community.  We will be focusing on recognizing people in our community and what they do, and the places and buildings within our community.  The children decided that we need grass and roads for our community and with the help of Ms. Chelsie and Ms. Cassie (our co-op students)  the children designed Amherstburg.  Here is a picture of what it looked like when we began.  Keep posted for our finished product soon to come!!!
