Our Table Top Activities!

Here are some activities that we are doing during our "Table Top" time.

Making colour patterns!

Creating sets with more and less using pumpkin seeds!

Creating shapes on the geoboards.  When describing their shapes, the children are encouraged to use the terms sides, corners, round, long and short.

Weighing various objects using a balance scale!

Here is a list of the vocabulary words at the weighing centre that we are encouraging the children to use.  Use these terms at home too!

Creating shape pictures!

Doing action patterns.  Here Kayce chose to pat her head 1 time and hop 1 time then repeat it over and over again!

Finding letters on the smart board!

Hammers at work!

What to do with our left-over pumpkins.  We are hammering golf tees in them.  Great for fine motor and eye- hand development!

Rectangle detectives!

Today Kai made a rectangle out of the cubes and we have been looking for rectangles in our classroom all morning!  Great work rectangle detectives!  Look for rectangles at home too!

Emma says " Look!  The bottom of my chair is a rectangle!"

Kadence discovered a very big rectangle....the bulletin board!  Many friends noticed the lights too!  

Here is Kai's rectangle and Braelin found a block that was a rectangle!  

Kayce noticed the refrigerator!

Xzavier noticed  a book!

Read-a-thon Activities!

Today we read the story Franklin's Halloween and we made a list of activities we saw in the story.  We decided to act out the story in our classroom today!

Abbey made a poster for our costume parade!

Some friends dressed up at the house centre!

Friends were getting ideas for their posters by looking at some books!

Some friends made a haunted house at the block centre!

We all had a chance to bob for apples!  They loved this activity!

Ashley made a jack-o-lantern with 3 eyes!

Trentin made a poster for our costume parade too!

One friend was acting out being a zombie at the haunted house!

Halloween Mystery

This week in class we are making predictions.  The children are signing beneath which item they think the capsule will turn into.  Then they are having fun watching the item emerge from the capsule after we put it in water. 

                         

What's Going on in the Classroom!

Feelings

We are focusing on feelings.  What they look like or what we can do if we see another friend sad, angry or scared.  Below are some activities that the children were doing!  Some made books about feelings.  Some made a monster showing emotions.
