We Figured It Out!!!

The boys and girls worked hard to come up with a solution of how to make the slinky go down the stairs.  They figured it out!!!  Kyle noticed that if you make the steps narrower....it worked!!  We also discovered that if the stairs went higher the slinky did an extra step on the floor. 

Some of our friends were interested in making the slinky roll down a ramp.  Cameron says  "if we make the ramp steep it will go faster!"  It did!!!!

Some friends found other objects that would roll down the ramp. 

Let's Make a Slinky Go Down the Stairs!!

One of the students brought a slinky in for show-and-tell.  How interesting!!  The children were telling each other how slinkys crawl down stairs.  This created a challenge in the classroom.  How can we make a slinky crawl down stairs in the classroom?

They came up with a solution!!  They took the slinkys to the block centre and off they went to work.  The children were invited to bring slinkys to school and we had a few come in. 

We did not get too far!!  They came up with the right idea but the slinky was not climbing down like they thought.  Keep working!!!!
We'll figure something out!!  Keep checking!  We'll see if they come up with a solution!!

Ramps at the blocks!!

Some of the boys were trying to figure out a way to attach the ramps to make them even longer.  It was fun testing their creations using a ball to see if it worked or not!!

Mrs. Wishy Washy!

We read and acted out the story Mrs. Wishy Washy written by Joy Cowley.  We discussed the sound 'sh'.  During centre time some children were retelling the story using the puppets.

This Week In Our Classroom!!

We are washing dishes at the water table.  As the dishes were put up to dry some of our friends sorted the dishes by colour.  We discussed sorting the dishes as a large group and we came up with 4 different ways to sort the dishes. 

1.  By shape
2.  If it had a circle or not
3.  By colour
4.  By the beginning sound

Great ideas!! 

Mrs. Speed Came For a Visit Today!!

What a nice surprise to have Mrs. Speed back in our classroom today.  She made playdough with some of the students!!

We decided to make cupcakes today out of playdough.  We got the idea this morning because Ava showed us her new shirt and it has a picture of a big cupcake!! 

Snail House!!

Miss Frame brought in a piece of styrofoam and put it at the painting centere to see what the children could do with it.  Off to work they went and they decided to make a house for the snails!!

The snail house is now painted but wait.........

Hanna and Leandra decided to add doors, windows, a bed, a couch and a tv for the snails!!

Other friends went outside to get some grass to put inside of the snail house!!  We had fun watching them crawl all around their new house today! 




Today we are saying good-bye to Miss Frame.  We have really enjoyed having her in the classroom.  Thanks for many creative ideas Miss Frame.  We will miss you!!

She made pudding today with the children!!
