Masks!!

You may have heard about your son or daughter talking about our mask parade at school.  We read a story about making a mask and we came up with a list of what we need to make a mask at school.

Off to work they went!! 

We went on a parade around the school.  We visited many classrooms to show off our masks!!!!

An Experiment at the Water Table!!!

One of the students created and tested his experiment at the water table today.  He was wandering if the water would go through all of the funnels to make the wheel turn????????

It worked!!!!!

Bean Seeds!!

Did you plant your bean seeds at home?  That is the survey of the day today!  We enjoyed watching our plants grow at school. 

Some students measured their bean stalks using cubes. 

 Students seriated the sizes of the bean plants.  We discoverd that they are growing at different rates.  Some are taller than others. 

Some students drew about their plant in their journal!!

Some students decided to measure Mrs. Shepley's plant and it is 23 cubes tall.  It is the same as some of our friends' arms!!!  It is taller than some of our friends' arms!!!

Our Classroom Drawing!

We read the story David's Drawings written and illustrated by Cathryn Falwell.  It is about a boy who draws a beautiful tree that he sees on the way to school one day during the winter time.  It hasn't any leaves.  The other students in his class decide to add leaves and other things to David's drawing.   We decided to do that in our class today!!  I started with a picture of a house on a large sheet of paper.  The students added many things: turtles, people, monsters, clouds, stars, and other houses to name a few.  Below is the end result!!

Harold and the Purple Crayon!!

Yesterday I read the story Harold and the Purple Crayon.  We used this story to discuss the different lines in pictures.  We looked for diagonal lines, straight lines, squiggly lines, zig zag lines and curvy lines.  The children practised drawing pictures and using different kinds of lines in their pictures.

At the writing table the children started with a line and they had to see what picture they could create!





Here 2 students created a clock and a chicken!!! They made several pictures and creations and made their own book!!



Some students were viewing the video Harold and the Purple Crayon and were drawing the things that Harold drew in the video.  The picture above is a picture of the apple tree.
