Making Paper!
We have been talking about the environment and how we can help take care of the planet. We learned that trees are cut down to make paper and other things like furniture. We also learned that some paper is made from old paper. We decided to try and make our own paper out of old shredded paper. We used a blender and water to mash up the paper and make pulp. The pulp was then spread on a screen to form paper. We had to let it dry overnight.

Community Helpers!
Today we talked about helpers that help us in the Community. We brainstormed and came up with a lot of ideas. Then we viewed a slideshow presentation of helpers. Below are a few examples:
We ended with a visit from a real police officer. Constable Harris came to talk to our class and then we got to go and see the police car he drives!
We got to look at real handcuffs!
Pollution!
Our water table is polluted with oil! The children are discovering how dirty and messy it gets!

It's Earth Day!
We began our day in the gym for an assembly!
Look, I made The Earth! It has more water says Teagan and Owen!
We learned:
The earth is ours to share!
Don't litter, recycle!
Try to reuse things like cloths, clothes, and toys.
If something breaks, try to fix it!
Don't forget to turn off the lights and your car when waiting. Better yet, try to walk or bike rather than use your car!
We have been collecting milk bags to make mats for children of Haiti! We learned that after the earthquake in 2010 many if the children in Haiti were forced to sleep on rocks and dirt with bugs. The plastic beds are great because the bugs can't get through!
Below is a mat that was made out of milk bags!
We have a challenge!
The class that sends in the most milk bags until the end of May will win a pizza party! Let's do it!
We learned something about the earth. Ask at home if there is more water or land on our Earth!

Our Science Experiment at the Water Centre!
Pushing the worms through the tubes! The water acts like a " booster" says one friend. "It pushes the worms forward", he explains!
Watch it Grow!
The children are using liquid pint and blowing it to make it grow. One friend said hers grew into a tree!
