Playdough!

Today as a small group activity we made playdough.  We practised measuring, mixing and used our sense of touch and smell!  Below you will find the recipe we use in class:

Kool Aid Playdough
Ingredients:
3 cups  flour
1 cup  salt
2 packs of KOOL-AID Unsweetened Drink Mix, any flavor—optional (or add food colouring)
4 tsp.  cream of tartar
2 cups  water
2 Tbsp.  oil

Directions:
MIX first 4 ingredients in medium saucepan until blended. Stir in water and oil.
COOK on medium heat 5 min. or until mixture forms ball, stirring frequently.

TRANSFER to lightly floured counter; cool slightly, then knead playdough—be careful this may be too warm for little hands!

Printing Our Names

We are using salt trays to practice printing the letters in our names!  Try this at home!

Story retells!

We are retelling a few stories in our classroom in several ways!  Below, some friends are listening to Mable Murple at the listening centre and following along.  We have discussed left-to-right direction and top -to-bottom when we follow the words.  We have talked about periods, title, and spaces between words.  Another friend is independently reading a book we read in class.  Other friends are retelling the story Pete the Cat by "reading" the illustrations or by using the flannel board!

Read-a-thon!

Mrs. Almeida's Grade 3/4 class were our buddies for the read-a-thon today. We read the story Pete the Cat and drew a picture of Pete wearing some shoes.  We created a class book!

Science Table!

We have sunflowers at our science centre and some friends are taking the seeds out using tweezers!

What is Your Name?

Here the children need to find their name from the chart and search for the letters in their names.
