The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

Mrs. Shepley  read the the story 'The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything'. The story was followed up with a re-tell activity, where the children put the pictures in order of how they appeared in the story.  The story also inspired the children to build a scarecrow and make their own scarecrows cutting and pasting pictures together.

The link below will bring you to a YouTube version of the story:

Bus Evacuation Drill

Today at school we had a bus safety demonstration and evacuation drill.  All of the children boarded the bus, listened to a safety talk and then practised using the emergency exit off of the bus.

The children boarded the bus.

The bus monitors helped the children exit through the emergency exit.

The children then practised gathering with the bus monitors.

Seeds or Not!

The children came to pick a fruit from the tree or a vegetable from the garden and we looked inside to see if there were seeds.  The topic of seeds was brought up last week when we had our fruit and vegetable feast and also this week when we were investigating some apples we found in the school yard.  We decided to investigate a little further.  The children has a chance for some hand- on exploration.  The children were asking some good questions about the seeds!

Math.....Counting objects!

The students are practising their estimation and counting skills by sticking their hand in the jar to see how many nuts " blocks" they can hold in their hand!
