Alphabet Bingo

Today the children had a chance to play Alphabet Bingo. Playing games with letters is a great way to help your child learn letters while having fun!

Harvesting Sunflower Seeds.

We were fortunate to have some sunflowers donated to the classroom, thank you to Mrs. Drouillard! At the Science centre the children had a great time using their fine motor skills to harvest the seeds from the flower.  In the spring we will plant the seeds we saved and grow our own sunflowers.

Painting with Tubes!

We are painting with tubes today!  

I Went Walking......

This week Mrs. Shepley read the story "I Went Walking".  The children are learning how to re-tell a story that they have heard.  They practiced cutting and pasting as they sequenced they animals that they heard about.  Ask them about the story!

Smartboard is Open!

This week we were able to open up the smartboard.  The children are using it to play games and learn!  They are also learning valuable social skills such as taking turns and following rules!

Wash the Dishes!

We are washing dishes at the water table this week!  Our dishes are spotless!  Great for fine motor development!  

Science is Open!

Our science table opened and it is very popular today!  The children are using magnifying glasses to look at shells, pine cones and a small log!  Ashley says that she can hear water when she puts a shell to her ear!  Jack and Haedon are listening too and can hear the water now!

Scissors at Playdough!

Our friends are making cookies at playdough using the scissors.  They are delivering them to their friends!  We are encouraging them to keep their thumb up when cutting!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

The boys and girls have been talking a lot about sizes so we decided to read the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  The props are out at the house centre to encourage the retell of the story.  Below we have baby bear sitting and Goldilocks sleeping in Baby Bear's bed.  They sorted the different sizes of dishes!

Painting

On Tuesday we opened the painting centre. The children made some great artwork! We will decorate the classroom with the artwork and send it home soon!

Straight and Curvy!

We have been talking about straight and curvy lines.  Kai discovered that his name has all straight lines.  There are no curvy lines in his name!

Art Centre is Open!

The scissors, glue and paper is out at the art table.  When using scissors, we are stressing thumbs up!  Please practise at home!  They are doing a great job of remembering to put the glue up only a little bit and putting the lids back on the glue so they don't dry out!

Seriating!

Today some of our friends were creating play dough balls and seriating them in order from smallest to largest.  Hannah showed us that she started with small, then a little bit bigger, a little bigger and the biggest!
